Take a look at the Hangzhou Regent International. An estimated 30k people live in this single luxury apartment building.
Situated in Qianjiang Century City, Hangzhou’s central business district, this S-shaped structure was originally designed as a luxury hotel. However, it was later converted into a colossal apartment building, transforming its rooms into thousands of high-end residential apartments.
Rising impressively to a height of 206 meters, the building boasts 36 to 39 floors, depending on the vantage point. As a self-contained community, it offers a wide range of amenities and businesses to cater to its large population.
These include a massive food court, swimming pools, barber shops, nail salons, medium-sized supermarkets, and internet cafes. Virtually everything one might need is available within the building, making it possible for residents to fulfill their daily needs without ever needing to venture outside.
Designed by Alicia Loo, the chief designer of the world-renowned Singapore Sands Hotel, the Regent International building was inaugurated in 2013 and quickly became one of Hangzhou’s most iconic landmarks.
While the majority of its residents are young professionals, many of whom have recently graduated or are on the cusp of graduation, the building also attracts young influencers and small business owners.
