Ayam Cemani is one of the strangest species found in Indonesia and you would rarely be able to find something that even comes close. It is extremely rare owing to its dark appearance and looks like one of the most mysterious and exotic breeds in the world.
The feathers or the feet; it is totally black. The internal organs are also inky; which is due to a condition known as fibromatosis. It is harmless and is a mutation leading to extra melanin seepage to the tissue of the bird. It is a process happening in the embryo, due to which Ayam Cemani chicks are born. Ever since the 12th century, this breed is considered to be elite in Javanese folklore. The charcoal-colored blood is considered to be a delicacy of spirits and it is known to bring in power, wealth and is considered to a good luck charm.
