When you see a white cargo van on the road, you probably don’t think too much of it. However, a filmmaker named Zach Both has turned his old Chevy model cargo van into a studio on wheels. It took him an entire year to create his mobile studio and it now gives him the freedom to work and live anywhere he wants in the United States.
What is truly impressive about this is that Both didn’t even have a background in carpentry prior to redesigning his fan. He just had a do-it-yourself attitude that made his dream of having a mobile studio come true. However, he did receive help from his father on the project as they both cleaned and vacuumed the walls and floor of the van. Most of this was for rust removal since Both originally purchased the van off Craigslist and it was in rather a modest condition.
Both and his father insulated and painted the inside, then installed a wooden interior cut after that. On the roof, they cut a hole so that extra light from the sun could shine inside of the van and allow more air to come in. Once they were all finished, the interior appeared to be a contemporary design using modern-style architecture. There are kitchen cabinets, a futon bed, refrigerator, stove, and sink. It even has a home theater system and mobile Wi-Fi. The electricity that powers his appliances and devices comes from a solar generator. So, he could literally go anywhere and use the power of the sun as his free source of electricity.
