The Good of the Hive: Artist Matthew Willey Travels the World to Paint 50,000 Bees

An artist from New York named Matt Willey is trying to raise awareness about the massive decrease in the number of honey bees. Without these bees to pollinate crops, the food supply produced by the agricultural industry is going rapidly decrease. Willey started a project called the Good of the Hive Initiative which involves him going around the world and painting bees on walls. His goal is to paint 50,000 bees total because that is the number of bees it takes to keep a beehive healthy. Willey has completed seven murals so far and keeps track of the number of bees he’s painted. You can find this number on his website at thegoodofthehive.com.
