These incredible drawings are made with pencil, first, and then burned into the wood using a magnifying glass and the power of the sun. It is pretty amazing to see how something can turn out so perfectly form something that we would normally consider to be pretty dangerous, but it just shows you that looks can definitely be deceiving.
