This Home Made From Stacked Shipping Containers Is Like a Flower Blooming in the Desert

To some people living in a container in the middle of the desert might not be a good idea to have fun, however before you take any decision take a look at this amazing creation by James Whitaker, the London-based designer.

He designed a 200-square meter house that includes a kitchen, a living room, and three suite bedrooms, he used many conjoined shipping containers which are set at different angles so as to look like a flower blooming in the desert or a structure that looks like a different world entirely.

This project was designed for an anonymous film producer who has a great love for nurturing amazing projects and as you can clearly see, this is an amazing and creative project.

“Earlier this year, some friends visited my client in LA and because he had some time to spare, they went together to visit the client’s plot of land in Joshua Tree,” James said. “Did you know what will look perfect here, one of the friends asked”, before she opened her laptop to reveal a picture she came across on the internet.

The picture was an office that was designed many years ago but had not yet been built, so the next time the client was in London; he contacted me and asked to meet up.

The home which was called The Joshua Tree Residence would be built on a 90-acre plot of land which was owned by the client in California, and the construction would start next year.

Once completed, the residence would be powered by solar panels which would be placed on the garage roof and it would also offer a great view across the surrounding landscape from many windows as well as a large wooden deck. Still, you do not have to think that living in a shipping container in the desert sounds like fun.
