Terrified Dog Rescued From Slaughter in China Find Forever Home

Most of us see life-long friends when we look at cats and dogs. Some people in the world see a delicious meal. Bone-chilling, right?

In China, cats and dogs are slaughtered every year to be eaten. They are boiled alive and this crazy act is celebrated every year.

Ethel was one of the dogs that were taken to a slaughterhouse until a Buddhist rescue group saved them. However, due to not having enough funds they cannot properly take care of these animals.

Odessa Gunn saw Ethel, a Chihuahua, being tumbled down among other dogs and ran to it: “As soon as I saw her, I knew she needed to come with me.”

She was suffering from serious hair-loss and mange. Also, one of her legs was injured and she was thought to be completely blind.

Gunn immediately took her to the vet. After eating properly, Ethel was able to fly back to California with Gunn.

Gunn’s existing dogs also loved Ethel and she started to be very friendly as Gunn says: “I think at some point in her life, somebody must have loved her. She gives kisses, and she and Jose ‘Little Man’ follow each other around everywhere. They’re inseparable.”

Even though Ethel is not fully recovered, she is getting better every day.

She also may not be totally blind as it will be clear after visiting an eye doctor. Gunn considers adopting her and loves her unconditionally as she jokingly says “She loves to sleep in bed with me, mange and all. I’m like, ‘No problem, come right in!’ She’s truly a miracle dog. I’m in love with her already.”
